Introduction to Mihara
Yassa



Mihara has about 80,000 people.
Hiroshima airport is to the west.
It is about a 30 minute bus ride from Mihara station.
The Shinkansen also runs through the city, so transportation is very convenient here.
In the southern part of Mihara there is the Seto Inland Sea National Park.
It is very beautiful all year round.





MIHARA CASTLE ABOUT
  MIHARA CASTLE


1. A Long long time ago, there lived the warlord Takakage kobayakawa, in Mihara.

2. He ruled over Mihara, and built a castle in 1567.

3. It was called "Mihara castle".

4. It has another name " Ukishiro"

5. This is because the castle was built on a reclaimed island at the mouth of the Nutagawa river.

6. At high tide ,it looked like it was a floating castle.

7. Now, only the base of the donjon remains and the moat around it.


Buttsu-ji

This is "Buttsu-ji" temple. It was built about 600 years ago by Guchu-Shuku. The temple is famous for its autumn leaves, which change their colors into yellow, red, and gold.

Mihara is also called the city of the octopus. Fishermen use this pot. They put it in the sea to catch octopii. Octopii are cooked in various dishes. They are very delicious. Famous, we have products from Mihara are, "Yassamanju" (a bean jam cake) and "Sanmangokusembei" (rice crackers) and so on.



The Sinmeiichi is an annual three-day market in February. This market,which boasts a 400 year history,is famous for is potted plants and daruma dolls.











Thethree days of the market are filled with the excitement of many people coming to see and enjoy the hundreds of open-air shops and show tents from all over Japan.
