Everyday customs in Japan

We usually eat meals at home.
We eat out on a special occasions.
For instance, when we want to celebrate someone's birthday, or when we have special guests, or when a mother is too busy to prepare the meal.
We say "itadakimasu" before we eat and we say "gochisousama" after we finish eating.

We take off our shoes when we enter the house.
We go into stores or restaurants with our shoes on.
We change our shoes for indoorshoes at school.

In Japan, we have public baths. The bathroom and the toiletroom are separated.

We wash our body before we get in to the bathtub, so we don't change the water every time, We only add some more hot water.
We put the lid on the tub so that water doesn't get cold.
